Binekar’s brutal murder is fallout of killing of father of one of the accused at the hands of the gambling den kingpin, say cops

Crime Branch picked-up four accused in connection with Balya Binekar murder case. Police identified them as Chetan Sunil Hazare (29), Rajat Raja Tambe (22), Bharat Rajendra Pandit (22), and Ashim Vijay Luderkar (28), all are residents of Borkar Nagar, Barasignal, JatTarodi, in jurisdiction of Imambada Police Station. First three accused were nabbed in Ramtek, while Ludarkar was taken into custody from Imambada area. Another accused named Aniket alias Abhishek is still at large and cops are hopeful of nabbing him soon. Binekar it is said was involved in more than 10 offences of serious nature.

The plot against Binekar was hatched by main accused Chetan Hazare, whose father Sunil was murdered about 19 years ago by the former. Though police so far maintained that accused Chetan had hatched a plan to kill Binekar to take revenge of his father’s murder, it appears to be a case of supari killing. After their arrest, cops have seized weapons, two two-wheelers, including a Honda Garnet (MH-49/AV-1786), clothes the accused were wearing at the time of committing the crime. Cops did not have to work much harder as they were keeping tabs on Binekar and his ongoing rivalry. The history sheet dug out provided apparent clues and as police teams fanned out in search of those having enmity the name of Hazare cropped up.

A visit to his house revealed that Chetan was not present and soon informers came up with loose pieces putting cops on firm path. In the aftermath of the murder whose clipping went viral on social media within hours put city police machinery in action mode. Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar took stock of the situation and directed police machinery to nab the accused. Several teams were put together and overnight teams from Sitabuldi and Crime Branch worked in co-ordination exploring clues and finally put together the information to track down the accused. The footage was examined minutely and the attackers were identified and then put behind bars after being traced to their location.

The arrest was effected by team comprising Sr PI Santosh Khandekar, PI Trupti Sonone, PSIs Mayur Chourasia and Rajkumar Tripathi, HCs Shankar Shukla, Pramod Thakur, Narendra Thakur, Datta Bagul and Nagesh Sahare and Prakash Wankhede, NPCs Praveen Rode, Ashish Deotare, Arun Chahande, constables Sagar Thakre, Kunal Masram, Suhas Shingne, Rahul Ingole and Mangesh Madavi.
