YAVATMAL, Sensation prevailed in the administrative circle on Monday after 90 doctors attached to the Health Department of Zilla Parishad (ZP) submitted their resignation with ZP CEO Shrikrishna Panchal in protest against the alleged insulting treatment by the District Collector M Devendrasingh. The Class I officers under Health Department of ZP stated that they have been working round the clock to serve COVID-19 patients from last seven months. But the district administration has been giving insulting treatment to them in the meetings.

Fed-up with the constant ill-treatment, the gazetted medical officers reached the Collecrorate to submit a memorandum. A delegation including Dr Vijay Akolkar, District President of Gazetted Officers Association, Dr Ravindra Durge ,Working President, Dr Sangharsh Rathod , Secretary, Dr Ashish Pawar, Dr Archana Dethe, Woman Secretary, Dr Gopal Patil and others went to Collectorate to submit the memorandum, but instead of considering their demands positively, the Collector gave us very insulting treatment, alleged the doctors and tendered their resignations to ZP CO.

The doctors mentioned that 23 medical officers and 67 health employees have been infected with the coronavirus and one of them died. Yet, instead of showing sympathy towards them, they are not getting enough facilities. They had also demanded to one-day leave on Sunday to take care of their families and to reserve 50 beds in the hospital for their families. Meanwhile, commenting on the issue, District Administration clarified that a delegation of doctors had come to Collectorate for their various demands and problems.

The District Administration and Police Department have been standing firm behind them from last six months. The administration always tried to solve their district-level problems while it also positive regarding their demands with the Government-level. Earlier, Dr Akolkar alleged that instead of accepting their memorandum, Collector insulted them.
