Matter reaches State Women’s Rights Commission
After his video went viral on social media wherein he is seen thrashing his wife, senior IPS Officer (1986 batch) of DG rank and Director, Public Prosecution Directorate, Purshottam Sharma was transferred and relieved from his work on Monday. In the meantime, Madhya Pradesh Women’s Rights Commission has taken cognisance of the incident. In the video, Purshottam Sharma is seen assaulting his wife. On the other hand, his wife is seen having heated argument with him.
Video clip shows that she was yelling that how dare he assaulted her physically? Two persons, probably servants, are also seen standing near the quarrelling couple and barely mustering the courage to control Purshottam Sharma. Two pet dogs are seeing barking during the entire scuffle. It is being said that Purshottam Sharma’s wife used to doubt that her husband is having friendship with some other woman. Two videos went viral one in which Purshottam Sharma is seen with his woman friend and second video is of incident in which Sharma is arguing and beating his wife.
One of the video grabs also shows that in a fit of rage, Purshottam Sharma pins down his wife to floor and rains blows on her head. In between, his wife allegedly hurts one of his hands, saying that scissor has been used by her in self-defence. It is learnt that Purshottam Sharma’s son Parth also complained to Government regarding the incident. Efforts were made to contact him but to no avail. In the meantime, Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Women’s Rights Commission Shobha Jha said that Commission has taken cognisance of incident and vouches for stern action against Director, Public Prosecution Directorate, Purshottam Sharma. She also appealed the State Government to take strict action against Purshottam Sharma.
I am trying to solve family dispute: Sharma

Senior IPS Officer (1986 batch) of DG rank and Director, Public Prosecution Directorate, Purshottam Sharma said that scuffle with his wife is a family dispute and he is trying to contact his wife and son to settle the matter in an amicable manner. Speaking to ‘The Hitavada’ Purshottam Sharma said that it is entirely a family dispute and he is trying best to solve it by contacting wife and son Parth and complainant in the matter. He claimed that it was since 2008 that he is victim (at the hands of wife) and at receiving end.
Asserting that he is in no relationship with anyone (as doubted by her better half), he told that he has done everything to placate his wife by doing registry of house in her name apart from giving money for fixed deposit. He claimed that his wife has been in luxuries due to him. It is from his money that she does shopping across the country and even went abroad, including America, Thailand, China etc. Whatever respect his wife is having it is due to him. He said that if matter is not solved at the family level then court is the next option.
