MP clinches 3 gold, 2 silver on Day 2 of National Canoe Marathon

Madhya Pradesh, on Sunday, bagged five medals, including two gold medals, on the day-2 of the National Canoe Marathon being organised at the lower lake in Bhopal. A three-day competition jointly organised by Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association and Association of Kayaking and Canoeing Madhya Pradesh at lower lake. On day-2 of the event, Madhya Pradesh’s Soniya Devi and Sushma Verma bagged a gold medal and silver medal respectively in the K-1 senior women’s event. Devi finished the 15 kilometre race in 1.18 hours to bag the gold medal.
 
Sushila Devi was stood third in this event. In C-1 junior boy’s category event, state’s Sony Verma clinched a gold medal, Bihar’s Rajat was second while Delhi’s Priyanshu Nagar won the bronze medal. Verma finished this 15 kilometre race within 1.18 hours. In the third and last event of the day, K-1 senior women’s competition, MP’s Binita Chanu while Asha Dangi won a gold medal and silver medal respectively, while the bronze medal was bagged by Rajasthan’s Tanish.
 
Binita finished this 15 kilometre event in 1.27 hours to secure first position in the competition. MP Olympic Association General Secretary Digvijay Singh, SGFI General Secretary Alok Khare, Dr Deepak Shah, Executive Member of Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association Balbir Singh Kushwaha, General Secretary of Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association Prashant Kushwaha were present during the event.
