IT WAS as close as it could have got. In an exciting final, Ranjeet Nasery pipped close friend Pankaj Lalwani to emerge champion in the Woodshot Open Snooker Tournament that concluded at Woodshot Pool ‘N’ Snooker Club in Himalaya Harmony, Pratap Nagar Square on Thursday. In the best of seven-frame drama, Nasery held the nerves better to win 4-3 (40-61, 54-39, 64-57, 41-64, 12-99, 46-43, 58-31).

Lalwani started on a positive note taking the first frame and was leading 3-2 at the end of fifth frame. But Nasery took the last two to seal the issue. Except for the fifth frame, every other frame was a black ball game. In the 5th frame Lalwani clean swept Nasery and came back strong in the sixth.

He only needed one ball to win the frame and the tournament but Nasery had other plans and he took all the balls and reached the last frame for a decider. While hitting the last black ball Nasery fell over the table celebrating his win. Ranjeet Nasery (R) poses with runners-up Pankaj Lalwani (L) and Deepankar De of Woodshot Pool ‘N’ Snooker Club.
