With a drop of five degrees Celsius in minimum temperature in 24 hours, Nagpurians witnessed return of winter chill one more time. The minimum temperature recorded in the city was 11 degrees Celsius on Friday.
The minimum temperature in the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday night was 16 degrees Celsius. In the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, it dipped to 11 degrees Celsius.
The 24-hour drop was five degrees Celsius. Compared to the average minimum temperature, it was a drop by three degrees Celsius, according to Regional Meteorological Centre, Nagpur.
With the return of winter chill, once again, people were seen wearing woollens even in daytime. The watchmen and others doing their night duties were seen drawing warmth from the bonfires which they ignited on Friday night, keeping in mind sudden chill a night earlier.
The average maximum temperature, however, was 30.3 degrees Celsius on Friday. It was one degree above normal. As per the Indian Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature is likely to rise to 14 degrees Celsius on Saturday, followed by further rise to 17 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
The maximum temperature also is predicted to rise to 31 degrees Celsius on Saturday, and 33 degrees Celsius on Sunday. However, from January 25 (Monday), the minimum temperature is predicted to remain steady at 15 degrees Celsius in city till January 28.
The maximum temperature will be 31 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius during this period.
From January 25 to January 27, the sky is expected to be generally cloudy with haze prevailing in the atmosphere.
As far as Vidarbha region is concerned, Gondia recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 9.6 degrees Celsius. Nagpur recorded the second lowest minimum temperature in the region with 11 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature in other districts in Vidarbha region was as follows: Wardha -- 12.6 degrees Celsius, Gadchiroli -- 13 degrees Celsius, Amravati and Chandrapur -- 14.6 degrees Celsius, Akola -- 15.1 degrees Celsius, Yavatmal -- 15.5 degrees Celsius, Buldana -- 15.6 degrees Celsius, and Washim -- 16 degrees Celsius.
