NIT _1  H x W:

Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) Board, in its meeting held on Thursday, decided to ‘delete’ the reservation of land pieces under Drainage and Sewage Disposal Scheme (Phase-II), said Vijay Zalke, Chairman of Standing Committee of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and NIT Trustee.

Interacting with mediapersons after the NIT Board meeting on Thursday, Zalke said that under the said scheme, NIT had acquired land pieces in various Mouza.

Besides, it had abandoned from acquisition some lands for agricultural use on certain terms and conditions, as per the abandonment agreement. Nowadays, Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) has been receiving proposals for sanction to layouts plotted on such abandoned lands.

As per the Section 68, 69(2), and 71 of NIT Act, 1936, NIT Board took a decision to ‘delete’ the reservations for drainage and sewage scheme, said Zalke. “Such lands were in residential zone in Development Plan (DP), but people in this zone could not benefit due to existing reservation. Hence, we decided to delete the reservation. This move will unlock benefit of development for around 5,000 acre land in especially NMRDA area including Tarodi and Bahadura,” he told reporters.

NIT Board decided to allow owners of such abandoned land to use the said piece of land as mentioned in the DP for NMC and NMRDA areas. For the purpose, these land-owners will have to pay abandonment charges, half of the amount of award along with 6 per cent interest from the date of award to present day. Replying to a question, Zalke said that the land-owners would have to pay an average Rs 12.50 lakh to Rs 13 lakh. Asked if the original land-owner had sold out plots already and people had effected constructions on such plots, Zalke said that after deliberations the amount to be paid for regularisation could be divided equally among plot-owners.

Other decisions taken in the 1195th Board meeting of NIT included taking on record the appointment of Vikas Thakre, MLA, on the Board of Trustees, and approval to contracts with estimated cost over Rs 50 lakh.

Sheetal Teli Ugale, Chairperson of NIT and Metropolitan Commissioner; Ravindra Thakare, District Collector; Bhushan Shingne, NIT Trustee, and officers were present in the meeting.
