On Wednesday, smoke was detected from the roof of the AC - I coach of Somnath Express from Itarsi to Jabalpur between Junaita-Salichowka railway station, causing panic among the passengers in the coach. Passengers in the same coach rushed to another coach and the train stopped suddenly in Junaita, for 10 minutes and after that the train driver came to Salichowka railway station and parked the train.
When other passengers came to know about the smoke coming out of the coach, they also rushed out from their coaches, while the railway officers called the fire brigade.
The DRDA employees also arrived and found out the reason for the smoke coming out. During the entire operation, the train stood here for about an hour which left for Jabalpur at around 1.15 pm.
It is said that there were only 2 passengers in the AC coach of Somnath Express going from Itarsi to Jabalpur, who were sleeping. When the passengers realised that there was a smell of something burning, they panicked and stopped the train after changing their coach as well as pulling chain near Junaita. After which the railway staff present in the train found out the reason for stopping the train and brought the train forward and brought it to the Salichowka railway station. Station Superintendent of Gadarwara railway station, Hanuman Singh, said that sometime around 11 o’clock the Somnath Express was parked between Junaita and Salichowka station. It is not yet clear if the train was stopped by a pull or stopped by the driver. But the train stood at Salichowka railway station for about an hour. Smoke was coming out from the roof of his AC coach, due to which it is considered as a short circuit. The fire brigade was also called in for safety and all the employees reached. After the smoke stopped coming from the coach, the train was departed at around 1.15 pm. At the same time, Dongre, Salichowka Station In-charge, told that the train was stopped in Junaita to see if there was a situation of fire spreading due to smoke coming out. When the staff investigated, train was brought to Salichouka station. No harm has been caused to the coach by the incident, DRD staff also came to investigate and they have investigated. Only after that the train was moved forward.
