BANKERS’ Sports Council Nagpur (BSC) honoured Grandmaster Raunak Sadhwani and much decorated boxer Alfiya Pathan with Late VV Naik Trophy declaring them outstanding sportspersons during the 54th Inter-Bank Sports Tournaments Annual Prize Distribution function at Navdrishti Hall, BRA Mundle High School, South Ambazari Road on Sunday. Awards were given at the hands of former India seamer and member of 1983 World Cup winning team Balwinder Singh Sandhu in a glittering ceremony. Raunak is city’s only Grandmaster and youngest from Maharashtra while teenager Alfiya Pathan won gold at World Youth Boxing Championship earlier this year. Sanjay Kumar, Director (Personnel), Western Coalfields Ltd. Nagpur and Zona1Heads/Regional Heads of various Banks graced the occasion. Following prizes were distributed: City’s outstanding sportspersons (Late VV Naik Trophy) Raunak Sadhwani (Chess) and Alfiya Pathan (Boxing). Ganesh Purohit (coach of Alfiya). Best Sportsman of Inter Bank Events (Late Ramabai Kathale Trophy)-Alhad Gunjal (TT). Jawaharlal Nehru Birth Centenary Award-Amit Ramteke(Dainik Punyanagari). Late RS Mundle Memorial Col CK Nayudu Trophy-Atharva Tayde.
 
Late GT Parande Memorial Social Service Award-Pyare Khan. Outstanding Sports Organiser-Sunil Hande, Secretary, Nagpur District Volleyball Association. Best Services to BSC-Rupa Sheth (BOM). Late Neelima Pardhi Trophy for Outstanding Women Player-Archana Dhongde (BOM). Late Vijay Telang Memorial Life Time achievement Award-Vijay Munishwar, Dronacharya Awardee. Naushad Ali Memorial Award-Datta Harkare, Ex-SBI Employee. Dr Vinki Rughwani (Social Service), Sharad Mahajan (Badmintion), Rahul Pande (Journalist)-Former City Editor, The Hitavada, Nagpur and recently appointed as Commissioner of Information (Maharashtra State), Vidarbha Region.
