‘Swarnim Vijay Mashaal’ accorded grand welcome at Jabalpur Cantt

‘Swarnim Vijay Mashaal’ was accorded a grand welcome on its arrival at Jabalpur Cantonment to commemorate the valour of Indian brave hearts at Colonel Hoshiyar Singh PVC Ground, on Friday.
Indian Army is observing year 2021 as ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ to commemorate the 50th anniversary of victory over Pakistan in the 1971 operations. The celebration was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi by lighting four Swarnim Vijay Mashaal from the eternal flame at National War Memorial, New Delhi on 16 Dec 2020. These Swarnim Vijay Mashaal have been sent to all four direction of the country to spread the message of India’s victory and sacrifices made by the Armed Forces of country. After completing country wide journey the ‘Victory Flame’ will converge back at New Delhi on 16 Dec 2021.
HQ Madhya Bharat Area in coordination with civil administration have planned events in Jabalpur to welcome, commemorate the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal and honour the sacrifices of Indian Armed Forces personnel during 1971 war. A grand welcome ceremony was organised on Friday at Colonel Hoshiar Singh PVC Parade Ground of Jabalpur Military Cantonment which was attended by number of Military and Civilian dignitaries of Jabalpur city along with NCC Cadets and School children.
The celebration includes Wreath Laying Ceremony, Military band display, Khukri dance followed by cultural program by locals. Lt Gen S Mohan, SM, VSM addressed the august gathering and felicitated the 1971 War hero, Air Vice Marshal B S Mishra, PVSM, AVSM, VM (Retd).
Events to commemorate the sacrifice of armed forces during the 1971 operation have been planned at various Army and Civilian administration offices from October 1 to 12. The events include honouring the veterans of the Jabalpur, show casing history at museums, colleges and NCC units. Commemorative Band Display has been planned at Gwarighat on October 2, Football match with locals at Shivaji Stadium and a victory sail at Kausam Ghat on October 3 and Nostalgia night on October 10. The ‘Victory Flame’ scheduled to proceed to Raipur on October 12,
