The 8th Convocation of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal was held on Wednesday in a Hybrid mode. PhD degree, BS-MS (Dual Degree), MS Degree and BS Degree were awarded to the graduates during this Convocation. These included 174 BS-MS Dual Degrees, 9 BS Degrees, 21 MS Degrees and 47 PhD Degrees. The President’s Gold Medal, Director’s Gold Medal and four proficiency medals were awarded during the 8th Convocation of the Institute. Vikram Kirloskar, Chairman and Managing Director, Kirloskar System, graced the function as the Chief Guest, Professor Ajay Kumar Sood, Chairperson, Board of Governors IISER Bhopal & Professor, IISc Bangalore presided over the event in a hybrid mode.

 

Kirloskar in his Convocation address emphasized about the four pillars of knowledge i.e. Creativity, Righteousness, Courage and Indomitable spirit, which are crucial components for an enlightened citizen. He also emphasized the importance of both Technical or Scientific skills and Soft skills for the successful career. Professor Siva Umapathy, Director, IISER Bhopal presented the Annual Report enumerating the important achievements of faculty and students and the progress made by the Institute in the past. Dr Snigdha Thakur, Dean, Academic Affairs, conducted the event proceedings.
