Female cricketer of the state capital, Soumya Tiwari performed brilliantly in the Women's Under-19 ODI Trophy competition organized by BCCI. In the tournament, she brought laurels to the state by taking 19 wickets and scoring 226 runs by hitting 30 fours and 2 sixes. She finished fifth in batting and fourth in bowling economic. Soumya has now been shortlisted for the One-day Challenger Trophy in the women’s category under the 19 years age group, slated to be held from October 25 to November 7 in Jaipur. For the Challenger Trophy, three teams (India-A, India-B, India-C) have been constituted after selecting 3 to 4 players performing splendidly from each state.
 
 
Notably, only 3 women cricketers from all over the Madhya Pradesh state have bagged selection in the tournament. Soumya has been placed in the India-C team. She is the only female cricketer to have represented Madhya Pradesh in the under 16, 19, 23 age categories and senior women's team in a single season. On seizing place in the Challenger Trophy, Sister Lilly, Principal of St. Joseph’s Convent School (Soumya’s school), Idgah Hills, Bhopal, has expressed joy and congratulated her.
