The Deepotsav exhibition has been organised by the Madhya Pradesh Handicrafts and Handloom Development Corporation, which began on Thursday and will continue till November 2 at Gauhar Mahal, VIP Road, Bhopal. The exhibition is being held daily from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm The exhibition has been organized keeping in view the Diwali festival. In wake of this, special materials materials and products have been put on display at the exhibition. Jyoti Umre of Bhopal has set up a special stone dust painting for Diwali on the occasion. Stone dust painting is made by making a paste of marble powder, filling it in a cone and pasting it on plywood, which is then shaped in the form of a tree, flower pot, bird, scenery.

 

The paintings are available in a price range of Rs 500 to 20000. Bhagirath Prajapati from Chhatarpur district has introduced his traditional diya (lamp) collection which includes diays of various shapes, such as flower pot shaped diya, stand diya, coconut diya, fish, turtle and doll diya, among which the magic diya is special, ranging from Rs 2 to Rs 100. Jitendra Kumar Rathore of the Sagar district has brought dung craft material which is made of cow dung. It includes pen stand, mobile stand, pylon, wall frame, side hanging, diya ring, matka colors whose price range lies between from Rs 6 to Rs1500. The exhibition boasts of tiger, batik and dabu print sarees, suits and dress materials, traditional and printed Chandei Sarees, cotton jackets, wooden toys, leather crafts of Dewas, brass metal crafts of Tikamgarh, Sahariya art of Gwalior and chadar, jute and zari zardozi items of Bhopal.

 

In the cultural program, the Sur Shankara Musical Group will stage cultural performances in the Exhibition on Monday, October 25. In the performance, artists Baby Eliza Khan, Baby Falguni Purohit, Ayesha Khan, Asmat Rawat Group President Suresh Garg, Prateek Garg, BL Raikwar and CP Purohit will voice evergreen film songs in their melodious voices.
