City’s Dr Ajay Sagdeo awarded Padma Shri

 

 

 

Ramnath Kovind, President of India, honoured Dr Ajay (Dhananjay) Diwakar Sagdeo with Padma Shri. A resident of Nagpur, Dr Sagdeo has been serving tribals with Swami Vivekanand Medical Mission (SVMM), Wayanad, Kerala since past 43 years. A glittering function to present Padma awards was held on Monday at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi; Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other senior Government officials were present. Earlier, before the start of the function, Dr Sagdeo met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah and briefed about his social work. Dr Sagdeo’s wife Sujata, daughter Dr Gayatri and brother Vinay also were present with him.

 

A grand felicitation was held in Nagpur before the award function in Delhi. Sarasanghachalak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Dr Mohan Bhagwat felicitated Dr Sagdeo with shawl, shrifal and scroll of honour at the function held in Blind Relief Association’s Hall in Laxmi Nagar. Dr Sagdeo’s friends from city, Baban Hadap, Vishwas Indurkar, Sanjay Mama Velankar, Charudatta Ghatwai, Vivek Indurkar, Chandu Halkander, Bandu Nana Dandekar, Vijay Narayane, Col Mahesh Deshpande, Ravi Bhusari, Gundu Masurkar, Adwait Deo, Vilas Deshpande, Vijay Deshpande and many others greeted him for this achievement.
