In the wake of communal riots in Amravati, top rank officials of Nagpur police took stock of situation in the city and issued a warning of stern action against rumour mongers. Sending a tough message to anti-social elements to not disturb peace in the second capital, the city police conducted a route march in the city on Saturday night. Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar and Joint CP Aswati Dorje chaired a meeting of all Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACPs) at Gymkhana in the evening. The CP took stock of the situation in the city on the basis of intelligence inputs received from local police stations and Special Branch. On the directives of the CP, the Zonal DCPs conducted route marches in their jurisdictions in the evening. The police warned the anti-social elements to not indulge in unlawful assembly in the upcoming days. CP Kumar informed ‘The Hitavada’ that a total of 31 sensitive points have been identified in the city and police deployment intensified at these places.
 
The police are also holding talks with various community leaders, he said. Entire police force is on toes to maintain vigil in the city. Special teams of Quick Response Teams (QRT) and Riot Control Police were also asked to be ready for immediate response to any untoward incident in the city. DCP Zone II Vinita S conducted route march with teams of QRT and RCP in Sitabuldi and Sadar area. DCP Sahu appealed to citizens to refrain from spreading the rumours and maintain the law and order. She also requested citizens to avoid forwarding anti-social messages or videos on social media that can disturb communal harmony. DCP Zone IV Noorul Hasan headed the route march in Wathoda, Dighori and Taj Bagh area. A large convoy of police vehicles travelled in the south and east Nagpur. DCP Hasan warned of stern action to anti-social elements if anyone found disturbing peace in his jurisdiction.
