There is a reason to smile for the ardent lovers of Nagpur Flying Club as the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted approval for two more years to the club. Thanks to Prajakta Lavangare-Verma, Divisional Commissioner of Nagpur division who has taken lot of efforts. Divisional Commissioner is also the President of Nagpur Flying Club. With the approval of DGCA, actual pilot training will begin soon. Approval has been given by the DGCA for pilot training till November 15, 2023. A public interest litigation was also filed in the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court seeking commencement of actual pilot training at Nagpur Flying Club. Aviation training at Nagpur Flying Club was closed since 2017.
Consistent efforts were made at the administrative level to initiate pilot training. The expert manpower required for the training as well as the Cessna owned by the club were given on priority in terms of equipping all the four aircraft. Prajakta Lavangare-Verma informed that the DGCA has approved the training for the post of Deputy Chief Aviation Director after obtaining fitness and maintenance (FTO) license from all the required posts. Prajakta Lavangare-Verma has thanked the DGCA and the Nagpur Bench of the Mumbai High Court for their support in training at Nagpur Flying Club and for starting a new Flying Club. Memorandum of Understanding with Mahajyoti Sanstha was signed.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with Nagpur Flying Club and Mahajyoti for training of students to fly Commercial Pilot (CPE) aircraft, under which 20 students will be trained every year. The Nagpur Flying Club will now provide opportunities to the students in this field, added Lavangare-Verma.
