Parwana Bhawan Complex opens on Kingsway

 

 

 

General Secretary of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) Amarjeet Kaur on Saturday inaugurated the state-of-the-art Parwana Bhawan Complex named after Com H L Parwana here in the heart of the city on Kingsway on Saturday in presence of General Secretary of All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) C H Venkatachalam, former MP and President of the AITUC. Ramendra Kumar and office-bearers of the other trade unions. Amarjeet Kaur also unveiled the bust of the H L Parwana while President of AIBEA Com Rajen Nagar inaugurated the Tarakeshwar Chakraborti Hall named after late Tarakeshwar Chakraborti. Similarly, former MP and President of the AITUC Ramendra Kumar inaugurated office premises of Com. H L Parwana Memorial Trust founded by the Eastern Maharashtra Bank Employees Association. Apart from this, the occasion also witnessed unveiling of bust of Com A B Bardhan at the hands of General Secretary of AIEEF Com Mohan Sharma and inauguration of the premises of Prabhat Kar-Parwana Trade Union Training Centre located in the complex.

 

Remembering the trade union leaders, Amarjeet Kaur said that Parwana had not only worked for the bank employees but also for workers and labourers engaged in other sectors. “He had dedicated his life to the cause of the working class. All the trade unions leaders of the current phase can take many lessons from his life and intensify the long agitation against privatisation and other anti-workers initiatives of the Government,” she said. C H Venkatachalam also spoke about the life of Parwana and raised the issue of privatisation of public sector banks (PSBs). At the outset, Trustee of Com. H L Parwana Memorial Trust and Com B N J Sharma welcomed the guests and office-bearers of various bodies and felicitated all those who contributed in building the complex.

 

Managing Trustee Com D S Buche, in his presidential address highlighted the contribution of Com H L Parwana to the welfare of workers. He also said that Com Bardhan had worked very hard for building the complex. Trustee Com Ramkumar Gupta proposed the formal vote of thanks while Suresh Bobhate, President EMBEA, Jaywant Gurway, General Secretary EMBEA and others were present on the occasion.
