Bhavan’s players rock in 1st Children’s Chess Festival

 

 

 

STUDENTS of Bhavan’s Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir excelled in the 1st Children’s Chess Festival that concluded at GH Raisoni Institute of Engineering and Technology, Shraddha Park, MIDC onTuesday. Inaugural edition of the twoday meet was organised by Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation in Association with GH Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation. Out of the five age groups, Bhavan’s players helped the school to three titles. Bhavan’s Trimurti Nagar Branch triumphed in Under-7 (Swara Gandhi, Kushh Nabira, Ojasvi Pohankar) and Under-11 groups while the Civil Lines Branch won crown in Under-9 (Vedika Pal, Siddharth Bang, Priansh Talele) category. In the U-15 group, Somalwar High School and Junior College, Nikalas Branch ruled the roost and in U-13 age group, Seventh Day Adventist Higher Secondary School emerged champs. Jai Prakash Gupta (Central Member of Khadi Gram Udyog) and Dr Parineeta Fuke (Corporator) were chief guest & guest of honour respectively.

 

Amit Gandhare (PRO) Raisoni Group, Satchidanand Soman (Member Tournament Committee), Bhushan Shriwas (Organising Chairman & Secretary Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation), Inderjeet Singh (Sports Head Raisoni Group) were present on the dais. With overwhelming response, organisers promised to conduct national events in coming months. Total 105 prizes were distributed. Sarang Thakre proposed a vote of thanks. Chief Arbiter of the tournament IA Pravin Pantawane was assisted by SNA Sheetal Panbude, SNA Swati Kumbhalkar, Amit Temburne, Prayas Ambade and member of GHRIET Vikrant Chole and Satish Pusdekar.
