Voters to adhere to COVID-19 protocol n Counting of votes on December 14
 
 
The voting for Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) elections from Nagpur Local Authorities’ Constituency will be held on Friday. Total 559 voters would be exercising their right to franchise. On Thursday, Vimala R, District Collector and District Election Officer, reviewed the situation, and made it clear that the machinery was ready for Friday’s polls. While addressing mediapersons at Chhatrapati Shivaji Sabhagruh, Vimala R informed, “The polling will be held at 15 polling centres. In Nagpur city, there are three polling centres while 12 centres are in rural area. The timing of the voting is 8 am to 4 pm.” Vimala R also informed, “Voters must bring the identity card issued by Election Commission of India (ECI) or the one issued by the local authority. Any other identity card will not be treated as valid.” Vimala R, after reviewing the electoral system, said at a press conference on Thursday evening that the administration was ready for the election process.
 
The total number of voters in this election is 559. They include 155 voters from municipal corporation, 70 from Zilla Parishad and 334 from municipal councils and Nagar Panchayats. “Since the election is contested on the basis of preferential voting system, voters must register the preference to be recorded on the ballot paper while voting. The voters must indicate their preferred number in numbers such as 1, 2, 3 or or I, II, III. Preference number cannot be entered in words. Secondly, mobile phones, spy cameras, spy pens, cameras, tabs, as well as any electronic devices are prohibited in the premises of polling stations. A total of 15 polling teams will be monitoring the process,” added Vimala R. Voting centres Polling stations have been set up at various places. The corporators of Nagpur Municipal Corporation will cast their votes at Sub-Divisional Officer’s Office, near District Collector’s Office; Tehsil Office, Nagpur City Room No. 2, Tehsildar’s Office, Tehsil Office, Nagpur City Room No. 4. Members of Zilla Parishad will be able to cast their votes at Tehsil Office Room No. 1 (MLA Residence premises). The other polling is in rural areas.
 
These include Tehsil Office Narkhed Room No. 1 for Municipal Council Narkhed Corporators, Tehsil Office Katol Room No. 1 for Corporators at Nagar Parishad Katol; Tehsil Office Saoner Room No. 1 for Municipal Council Saoner and Municipal Council Khapa; Tehsil Office, Ramtek Room No. 1 for all corporators at Nagar Parishad Ramtek; Nagar Parishad, Kamptee Mahadula for Corporators Tehsil Office Kamptee Room No. 1; Nagar Parishad Kalmeshwar Brahmani and Nagar Parishad Mohpa Corporators will cast their votes at Tehsil Office Kalmeshwar Room No. 1; Nagar Parishad Umred Corporators will go to Tehsil Office Umred Room No. 1 Nagar Parishad for Corporators in Kanhan Pimpri Council Office Kanhan Pimpri Room No. 1, Tehsil Office Mouda Room No. 1 for the corporators of Nagar Panchayat Mouda Municipal Council Office Butibori Room No. 1 for the corporators of Nagar Parishad Butibori, Tehsil Office Parshivani Room No. 1 for the corporators of Nagar Panchayat Parseoni, No. 1 facility is provided at this place. Counting in Bachat Bhavan The counting of votes will take place at Bachat Bhavan on December 14.
 
About 10-14 ballot boxes will be kept in the strongroom at Bachat Bhavan, added Vimala R. Officers of the police department inspected the Bachat Bhavan premises from the point of view of security in the presence of the District Collector. The counting of votes will take place at 4 tables on Tuesday from 8 am till the process is complete. The results of the polls will be announced on December 14. SETU centres to remain closed As all the polling stations are in the vicinity of the tehsil office, the setu centers at tehsil office Nagpur city, Nagpur rural tehsil office, tehsil office Narkhed, Katol, Ramtek, Umred, Mouda, Parshivani will remain closed on December 10. As Section 144 will be in force on the polling day, entry to others will be barred within 200 meters of the polling station. The district administration has appealed to citizens to cooperate in this process. COVID-19 protocol is mandatory for the coronavirus preventive measures.
 
Thermal scanning will be carried out at each polling station. If the body temperature is found to be higher than the normal temperature in the Farmer Scanner, such voters will be able to cast their votes in the last one hour. Sanitizer, thermal scanning has been arranged at all the centers, Vimala R made it clear. Sujata Gandhe, Resident Deputy Collector also was present at the press conference.
