THE much-awaited results of High Court Bar Association (HCBA) elections were declared on Saturday. Adv Atul Pande was elected as new President and Adv Amol Jaltare became the new Secretary. The term of the HCBA executive which was elected in year 2017, ended in 2020 after a three-year tenure. The elections were declared in 2020, but due to COVID lockdown that began in the last week of March, 2020 the elections were postponed. On Saturday, the voting was held and the counting began in the evening and by 7.30 pm, the results were announced. Now, Adv Atul Pande and Adv Amol Jaltare will take charge from Adv Gauri Venkatraman (outgoing President) and Adv Prafulla Khubalkar (outgoing Secretary) respectively.
The new body is as follows: Adv Atul Pande-President, Adv Amol Jaltare - Secretary, Adv Sharad Bhattad and Pankaj Tidke - Vice Presidents, Adv Madhav Lakhe - Treasurer, Adv V S Oberoi- Library in-charge, Adv P S Chawhan - Joint Secretary. Of 1,492 total votes, 1,468 were found valid. Contesting for the post of President Adv Atul Pande secured 554 votes and won the election. His nearest rival Adv Sameer Sohoni got 476 votes, Adv Shridhar Purohit clinched 442 votes while Adv V C Bhamburkar could garner 29 votes. For the post of Secretary, Adv Amol Jaltare secured 782 votes while Adv Rugved Dhore got 704. For the two posts of Vice President, four candidates were in fray and Adv Pankaj Tidke won the election with a margin of almost 200 votes as he got 824 votes. Adv Sharad Bhattad with 670 votes stood second and he too became the Vice President. Adv Rajesh Nayak and Adv Shreeganesh Abhyankar got 601 and 513 votes respectively.
Adv P S Chawhan became the new Joint Secretary of HCBA as he got 788 posts almost double than his nearest rival Adv Bhanubhushan Kumar who could garner 345 votes. Adv S V Taksande with 335 votes stood third. There were three candidates in the field for the post of Treasurer and Adv M D Lakhe with 755 votes elected as new Treasurer. Adv Shriram Deoras and Adv M V Bute could secure 460 and 253 votes respectively. The election for the post of Library in-charge too had three candidates contesting. Adv V S Oberoi stood the winner as he clinched 618 votes. His nearest rival Adv Kaustubh Deogade got 471 votes while Adv H M Bobde who stood third received 398 votes.
