In municipal areas outside Nagpur city, however, the attendance was only 33.75% 
 
After a very long gap, the offline classes for Std I to IV in rural areas and Std I to VII in municipal areas outside Nagpur city in the district, resumed on Wednesday. The first day saw enthusiastic response with more than 50 per cent students attending the classes in rural areas. However, the semi-urban municipal areas saw only 33.75 per cent attendance on the first day. The offline classes for Std I to IV commenced on Wednesday after a gap of 20 months, since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. Considering the situation, which was under control, State Government allowed resuming of offline classes for Std I to VII.
 
However, after taking stock of the situation in Nagpur city, Radhakrishnan B, Municipal Commissioner, decided to defer till December 10 the decision of resuming offline classes for Std I to VII in the city. However, in rural areas, the district administration decided to go ahead with resuming the offline classes from Wednesday. In rural areas, offline classes started for Std I to IV. In semi-urban municipal areas (outside Nagpur city) in the district, offline classes started for Std I to VII. Chintaman Vanjari, Education Officer (Primary), Zilla Parishad, visited ZP Upper Primary School, Gondkhairy, in Kalmeshwar tehsil and welcomed the students on their first day back to school. As per the official data released on Wednesday evening, of total 2,021 primary schools in 13 tehsils of the district, 1,898 conducted offline classes for Std I to IV. Of a total 1,28,091 student on roll, as many as 64,780 (50.57 per cent) attended the classes on the very first day of resuming of offline classes. In these schools, of total 5,956 teachers, as many as 5,569 attended to their duties.
 
Besides, in semi-urban towns in the district, 251 out of total 287 schools resumed offline classes for Std I to VII. These schools saw only 33.75 per cent attendance, with only 17,774 students out of total 52,661 on roll attending the classes on Wednesday. In these schools, of total 2,203 teachers, 1,549 attended to their duties. Among the tehsils, Kamptee saw the least attendance of 20.56 per cent, with only 2,463 students out of total 11,749 on roll in 117 schools attending the offline classes for Std I to IV. It was followed by Parseoni tehsil where 118 schools out of 158 started offline classes for Std I to IV. In these schools, only 4,778 (28,56 per cent) out of total 16,731 students attended the classes. Among semi-urban areas, Kamptee Municipal Council area (town) saw only 7.50 per cent students attending the offline classes on Wednesday. Of total 16,170 students, only 1,213 students attended the classes, as per the official data. Surprisingly, only 260 teachers out of total 616 teachers in 81 schools in Kamptee town attended to their duties.
