Narendra Dada Yelpure, founder of Dada Dham, passed away on Sunday at the age of 78 years. He was ailing for some time and was admitted to a private hospital from where he was brought home on Sunday, where he breathed his last in presence of family members and followers. Narendra Dada Yelpure leaves behind his wife Kavita Taiji, sons Yashwant and Laxmikant, three daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and scores of followers across the country. As soon as the news of his demise spread, a number of his followers started reaching Dada Dham in Ravi Nagar. The funeral procession will leave Dada Dham at 3 pm on Monday, and his mortal remains will be consigned to flames at Ambazari ghat. Popularly known as Narendra Dada, he had dedicated his life to popularising spiritual teachings of Dadaji Dhuniwale of Khandwa.

He had given slogan ‘Tulsi Lagao, Pradushan Hatao’ and had taken up the cause of encouraging planting more and more Tulsi saplings to reduce pollution. According to his close associate Dr Saraf, Narendra Dada spread awareness for 35 years about ill-effects of pollution, through street-plays, lectures. During the ‘Maha-aarti’ performed at Dada Dham, Narendra Dada spoke about the need for getting rid of ‘Mental Pollution’ and having ‘Satvik’ (pure) thoughts. His followers treated him as socio-spiritual saint of modern times. When the Kumbh Mela was held in Haridwar, he had led Dada Dham’s rally there for creating awareness against water pollution. Narendra Dada was closely associated with several social, religious, and spiritual organisations including Poddareshwar Ram Mandir. He had worked tirelessly and got Dadaji Dhuniwale’s marble idol, Maa Narmada’s silver idol, and ‘Sphatik (crystal) Shivling’ installed at Dada Dham here. All the Shankaracharyas visited Dada Dham. Legendary singer Kishore Kumar, who was a devotee of Dadaji Dhuniwale, had done a musical concert in Nagpur to raise funds for Dada Dham.
