With the arrest of a seven-member inter-state gang, the Nagpur police on Friday claimed to have solved dacoity cases reported in Dabha and Beltarodi area of Nagpur. Four members of the gang were arrested from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh with the help of UP Task Force while three arrested from Nagpur, police officials said.
The arrested accused have been identified as Guru alias Akash Gujjar Changiram Gosai (21), a resident of Gulgaon village, Tehsil - Sanchi, District - Raisen, Madhya Pradesh. Nirmal Roshanlal Mogya (20), Rohit alias Ramdas Bhagat (24), both residents of Manikpur, District - Chitrakut, Madhya Pradesh; Pintya Babbu Mogya (19), a resident of Dhamarmuda, District - Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh; Hari Shriram Asole, a resident of Mhada Quarters, Kapil Nagar, Nagpur; Sandesh Rokde and Pravin Kanole, both residents of Godhani, Nagpur.
A police official said that three members of the gang including prime accused Changiram Gosai (50) managed to flee spot the when the police raided their locations at Prayagraj. Guru is the son of Changiram. Sandesh Rokde, is a Nagpur based jeweller who had purchased stolen valuables from the dacoits.
It may be mentioned that the accused had committed dacoity at the houses of Sagar Kharche (30) at Thakre Layout and Anita Meshram (72) in Welcome society in Gittikhadan police station area and Mangesh Wandre (34) at Shivangaon Punarwasan in Beltarodi police station area.
The three dacoities had panicked the citizens especially in the outskirts of Nagpur. The city police bosses were also under pressure for detection of the case. The official said that the case was solved on the basis of CCTV footage and finger prints collected from the crime spots. Wife of one of the accused was living at Ram Jhula near railway station. The police checked CCTV footage installed there and identified the Mahindra Bolero car used in the crime. This helped the police to locate the accused, the official said.
After tracking locations of the goons, a team of Crime Branch went to Uttar Pradesh raided a slum in Prayagraj. Before entering the slum, the police had cordoned off the slum, said the official. Akash, Nirmal, Rohit and Pintya were apprehended by the police team. However, prime accused Changiram Gosai managed to escape the police raid.
The police produced the accused in the court and obtained their police custody till December 30. Sunil Kunwar, Yogesh Gupta and others.
