Pendsey triumphs in open selection chess

MUKTANAND Pendsey won the Nagpur District Open Selection Chess Tournament to qualify for the Maharashtra States Open Selection tourney to be held next month. In the selection trials organised jointly by Chess Association Nagpur and Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation Under the aegis of Maharashtra Chess Association at Smt Vimalabai Jatar Sabhagruha, Seva Sadan, Jhansi Rani Metro Station, Sitabuldi on Christmas Day, Pendsey took the first spot. Second to fourth placed players — Sai Sharma, Soham Ranade and Kaustubh Lokhande in that order also made it to the Nagpur district squad. Prize were distributed by the hands of Radhika Dhawad of Nation Next; Bhushan Shriwas, Secretary, CAN and Amrish Joshi, Chief Arbiter. They will represent Nagpur in Maharashtra States Open Selection tournament that is scheduled to take place from January 26-30 at Sangli. Tournament was successfully conducted under the guidance of Joshi, Deputy Arbiter Amit Tembhurne, Prayas Ambade and Amit Bhongare.
