RUTUJA Talegaonkar clinched a bronze medal in the 400m Individual Medley in the All India Inter-University Aquatic Championship under way at Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, Bhubaneswar, Odisha on Saturday. Representing Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU), Rutuja, who has won many medals and made the varsity proud, ended third to pick a bronze medal in the Individual Medley event with a timing of 5:48:10 secs. It is learnt that the podium finish has earned her a place in second Khelo India championship to be held at Jain University, Bengaluru.
Dr Pravin Lamkhade is coach of the team while Amol Raipurkar of Nagpur District Swimming Association is manager. Member of Shark Aquatic Sporting Association, Rutuja trains under NIS coach Sanjay Batwe at Kamgar Kalyan Swimming Pool regularly. She is a student of Dr Ambedkar College. RTMNU’s Dr Subhash Chaudhary, Dr Sanjay Dudhe, Dr Raju Hiwse, Dr Sharad Suryawanshi, Sambhaji Bhosale, Dr Poornima Giri and Chandrakant Duble congratulated the meal winner. Earlier on Friday, Rishika Bodele had bagged first medal for the varsity. The five-day event that concludes on Sunday.
