Every Year December 24 is observed as National Consumer Day with a specific theme in India
 
 
CREDAI Nagpur Metro and Grahak Panchayat Maharashtra have jointly celebrated the National Consumer Day here at the office of CREDAI on Friday. Both the organisations have only one objective and that is to work for the consumers and to secure their rights and that is the reason for the joint celebration. The programme was organised in the presence of President CREDAI Nagpur Metro Vijay Dargan; Treasurer Santdas Chawla; Vice President Rajmohan Sahu; Joint Secretary Vijay Singh Thakur, Jethan and Khandwani Abhishek Javery; President Grahak Panchayat Maharashtra (Vidarbha Prant) Shyamkant Patrikar, Dr Kalpana Upadhye Vidarbha Prant Coordinator, Liladhar Lohare Vidarbha Prant Secretary, Shriram Satpute District Coordinator, PRO Prashant Lanjewar and other members of Grahak Panchayat Maharashtra. “We celebrate the day to spread awareness about consumer importance, their rights and responsibilities,” said Vijay Dargan. He also said that members of CREDAI follow a set ‘Code of Conduct’ and follow all the rules and regulations.
 
“That is why customers now prefer to buy properties from CREDAI Members only. We have our own Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum where we try to resolve the issue between customer and builder,” he added. Santdas Chawla of CREDAI Nagpur Metro said in his speech that CREDAI always works for the betterment of consumers. He also said that CREDAI Members work for customers benefit and they always work in the interest of customers. President Grahak Panchayat Maharashtra (Vidarbha Prant) Shyamkant Patrikar said that the organisation is working to educate the consumers about their duties and rights and to help customers to obtain their rights and protect them from unfair trading. Dr Kalpana Upadhye spoke on the history of the day and journey of Grahak Panchayat Maharashtra, which is working effectively in this direction till today.
 
She further explained the working of their organisation and urged the consumers and CREDAI to work in association and collaborate with Grahak Panchayat Maharashtra for a better society. Every Year December 24 is observed as National Consumer Day with a specific theme in India. On this day the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 had received the assent of the President. The enactment of this Act is considered as a historic milestone in the consumer movement in the country. The Act introduces the concept of product liability and brings within its scope, the product manufacturer, product service provider and product seller, for any claim for compensation.
