Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has inaugurated the Academic block of Datta Meghe Medical College, Wanadongri, Hingna, an off campus centre of the prestigious Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences (Deemed to be University) Sawangi (Meghe) Wardha. Devendra Fadanvis, Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and former Chief Minister of Maharashtra was guest of honour along with Ajay Sancheti, former Member of Parliament and Dr Avichal Kapur, Joint Secretary, University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi. Chancellor of DMIMS (DU) Datta Meghe presided over the function in presence of Dr Vedpraksh Mishra, Pro- Chancellor, Sagar Meghe, Member BOM; Dr Rajiv Borle, Vice-Chancellor and Dr Lalit Waghmare, Pro Vice Chancellor, DMIMS(DU). Those seated on the dais were Dr Brij Sigh, Dean DMMC; Devika Meghe, Vrunda Meghe, Raghav Meghe, Ravi Meghe, Abhyuday Meghe. Gadkari, Fadnavis and Datta Meghe spoke on the occasion. Dr Sarita Ugemuge conducted the proceedings while Dr Ujwal Gajbe, Medical Superintendent of Shalinitai Meghe Hospital and Research Centre proposed a vote of thanks.
The Datta Meghe Medical College is the first medical college in the country to be established under the Consortium Scheme of the Government of India and was established under the Meghe SMS Health Consortium and its partners. The college was established in the year 2020, with annual intake capacity of 150 students, on the sprawling, lush green and beautifully landscaped campus at Wanadongri, Hingna with state of the art infrastructure, world class academic ambiance. The ultramodern library, high tech class rooms, and skill labs of international standards are the main highlights of this new Medical college under the DMIMS(DU).
