DHARA Phate kept her best for the last as she guided her side Dharampeth Krida Mandal (DKM) to title victory over arch-rivals Shivaji Nagar Gymkhana (SNG) in the final of Junior District Basketball Championship organised by Nagpur District Basketball Association at Nutan Bharat Yuvak Sangh (NBYS) Courts in Bajaj Nagar on Friday evening.

DKM defeated SNG 41-35 to wrest the title.

In the exciting girls’ final, Dhara scored maximum 13 points and also helped her team-mates score with her excellent

passing skills.

Apart from Dhara, Sneha Khandelwal scored 12 while Sameeksha Chandak scored eight points.

For SNG, Swati Wankhede scored 11 points while Gunjan scored nine but they can’t help their side beat a much superior side DKM girls.

After trailing in the first quarter 7-9, DKM roared back taking the second 8-3. They took the third 13-10 and then restricted SNG to 13-all in the fourth thus winning the match 41-35.

The boys’ final was a one sided affair as Nutan Bharat Yuvak Sangh crushed SNG ‘A’ to emerge the district champions.

PrathamGupta and Adarsh Shewde scored an identical 16 points as they thrashed SNG-A 62-29. Sarthak Dhuldhule (11) and Yash Mehta (8) played well for the losing side. The quarter-wise score read11-8, 17-8, 15-6, 19-7.
