On the evening of December 1, leopard movement was captured in Atomic Energy Department’s depot premises near Ambedkar Nagar in Wadi area. Following this, Forest Department was informed and a search for the leopard has been launched. As per the details, CCTV camera footage captured leopard movement in Atomic Energy Depot premises on the evening of December 1. In the said footage, the leopard is seen moving through the premises, disappearing into the vegetation, and later reappearing and moving on the compound wall. After the video went viral in Wadi area, Forest Department was informed. The department has deployed a team of 30 staffers in the area, and has also installed special camera traps. It was learned that the camera traps also captured the movement of leopard and confirmed its presence in the area. Forest Department, along with State Reserve Police Force Group-IV, conducted patrolling on December 2. During the patrolling in the evening, the team reportedly saw the leopard towards Pandhrabodi end of Ambazari Biodiversity Park. It was speculated that the leopard sighted in Wadi had moved towards Pandhrabodi. Forest Department team was led by S F Fulzele, Round Officer, Ambazari. The officials have appealed to the people not to panic but take due precautions.
It appears that leopard sighting in Ordnance Factory Ambajhari, area near Biodiversity Park at Ambajhari, and Wadi area is becoming a regular, though not frequent, feature of this year.
A few months ago, leopard was sighted near IT Park near Ambazari lake. Later on, more recently, leopard was sighted in Ordnance Factory Ambajhari estate. Now, leopard has been sighted near densely populated Ambedkar Nagar area in Wadi. There are also some townships in the nearby area.
