AS MANY as six players found their names on the score sheet as Green Flag Football Club thumped Ansari Football Club 9-1 in their JSW NDFA Senior Division League Tournament under way at Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar Football Stadium in Suyog Nagar on Monday. This was their second big win as on Saturday they had beaten Fateh Football Club 6-0 riding on a hat-trick by Md Sharif Qureshi. Shanwaz Akhtar (36th, 70th, 82nd), Andul Azim (7th, 89th), Ubaid Ur Rehman (22nd), Md Arif Ansari (42nd), Mansha Ur Rehman (56th) and Sharif Qureshi (90th) accounted for the nine goal. For Ansari, Rashid Khan’s 51st minute goal was the only consolation.

 

Md Arif Ansari (42nd) and Waqar Ahemad (59th) for winners and Sohel Sheikh (1st) for losers were cautioned by the referee. In second match of the day, Young Boys rallied to edge past Rahul Academy 2-1. Anurag Solanki put Rahul ahead in the seventh minute. But the joy lasted just five minutes as Ziaur Rehman (12th) made it 1-1. Late into the second half, Md Shoeb (78th) struck for Young Boys. Saquib Javed (25th), Alister Sylwester (65th) and Sahil Sheikh (75th) were flashed with the yellow cards. Tuesday’s matches: Gouhar FC vs Nagpur Star 1.30 pm; Hansraj FC vs Veer FC 2.30 pm.
