RAIPUR :

INTUC National President G Sanjeeva Reddy on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Union Government over the alleged anti-labour laws passed recently. Reddy called new laws anti-labour and warned of shutting down work in all the factories across the nation for one month if his demand of repealing the new law isn’t met. In a press conference, Reddy said the International Labour Organization (ILO) has demanded complete rollback of the new labour law. According to ILO, any new labour law should only be brought in after a joint discussion between the Government, Employers and Labour Unions, but the Union Government isn’t ready to talk unless we accept the new law. He alleged that new labour law will prohibit the labourers from holding strikes ever.

In case the labourers ever go on strike, they can get jailed for 2-years or a fine of Rs 2 lakh. The new labour law also allows employer to lay off up to 100 employees without permission of the Government. Reddy also demanded the minimum wage should be Rs 50000 at least, considering the inflation. Also, the law has a provision of fixed time employment, which means there can’t be a job security.

One needs to sign the contract again and again. Their next major issue is the privatization of public sector units. As the Government isn’t paying heed to them, they will carry out protest in different ways, which will culminate into a one-month-long total shut down of the factories all over nation.
