BHAVYASHREE Mahalle improved her performance of Guwahati nationals to clinch a gold medal in the 32nd West Zone Athletics Championship. The competition is being held at Kota Stadium in Chhattisgarh, Raipur. Bhavyashree, a student of JP English Medium School, won gold medal in the 2000 metres run clocking a timing of 6 minutes and 43 seconds. At the Guwahati nationals, Bhavyashree, an athlete of Nav Maharashtra Krida Mandal, had finished fourth. She was determined to better her performance in the West Zone meet.
 
The 16-year-old athlete is trained by NIS coach Jitendra Ghordadekar at Ishwar Deshmukh College of Physical Education. Her club-mate Mitali Bhoyar will be participating in the 1500 metres run on Friday. A good show is also expected from her.
