NAGPUR athletes are hogging limelight at the West Zone Athletics Championship under way at Swami Vivekanand Stadium in Kota in Chhattisgarh, Raipur.
 
After Bhavyashree Mahalle won gold medal in the 2000 metres run, city’s Mitali Bhoyar matched the performance of her city-mate as she claimed the yellow metal in the 1500 metres run on Friday.
 
Both the athletes are member of Nav-Maharashtra Krida Mandal and trains under NIS coach Jitendra Ghordhadekar.
Mitali, who had won a bronze medal in the recently concluded Junior National Athletics Championship at Guwahati, clocked a timing of 5 mins and 07 seconds to claim the gold medal for Maharashtra in U-18 girls section. On Thursday, Bhavyashree, a student of JP English Medium School, had won gold medal in the 2000 metres run clocking a timing of 6 minutes and 43 seconds.
