The Government Fair Price Shop (FPS) operators of Jabalpur started State-wide indefinite strike on the call of Madhya Pradesh Sahkari Samiti Mahasangh, Bhopal and staged dharna protest at Civic Center, on Wednesday. The strike would directly effect the public distribution system in the State as all the 4,525 co-operative organisations and fair price shops would remain close due to indefinite strike.
The ration shop-owners are protesting against the continuous pressure being mounted on them pertaining to stocks distributions during COVID 19 pandemic period while ignoring their own orders issued verbal and written by the officials of the Food Department and also orders issued from the State authorities to distribute ration for free to the needy people. Showing ire against the administrative actions towards clearing stocks or towards registering FIRs if the stocks were not cleared.
On Tuesday, Mahasangh have given a memorandum addressing to the Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan through Collector, Jabalpur demanding to intervene into the matter and resolve the issues being faced by operators who have distribution ratio to public in the COVID 19 pandemic time by risking their lives, but due to administrative pressure are feeling harassed. Issues related to entry of stock due to server failures and issues, inclusion of the stock distributed to the beneficiaries as per guidelines after biometric verification from as per orders issued on April 19, 2020 to April 30, 2020. Inclusion of ruined stock of grains in POS machine, inclusion of stock distribution on the basis of Samagra ID in POS system. The Mahasangh have appealed to the State Government to resolve the issues on priority otherwise for the inconvenience caused to the public would be responsibility of the State.
