SILK India, an exhibition- cum-sale of displaying products of cotton, silk, handloom made by master craftsmen from all over India, opened here in the city. The expo is displaying special attractive wedding collection. The expo with 49 stalls of different States will continue till February 16 at Chitnavis Centre, Civil Lines. It will remain open for the visitors from 10 am to 9.30 pm .
The participants are directly selling their products at the lowest costs to the customers and the customers can get authentic and exclusive products and promote these artisans coming from all over the country. Variety of exclusive and attractive silk and cotton sarees, dress materials, suits, stoles, dupattas, kurtas and kurties along with fashion jewellery and artefacts for home decore are available in the expo.
The regional and state’s specialties include a host of varieties like Bhagalpuri, Tussar, Kosa and Khadi silk of Bihar, Lucknow Chikan, Jamdani and Banaras silk from Uttar Pradesh, Chanderi and Maheshwari silk of MP, Patola, Bandhini and Kutch from Uttar Pradesh, Bandhini and Kutch embroidery from Gujrat, while Rajasthan’s Bandhei, block print and other varieties are also put on display. Thus all in all the exhibition is about the use of traditional handloom skills to create contemporary lifestyle products all under one roof.
