Since the ruling Congress Government has come to power in State, there is an atmosphere of despair across the State, while corruption and mismanagement has become the trademark of this Government, said former PWD Minister and Senior BJP leader Rajesh Munat while addressing mediapersons at a press conference on Saturday. Despite putting a huge burden of loans on State, all development works have come to a standstill. Forget about any new project, the incumbent State Government is unable to carry out maintenance of the urban areas and roads, he alleged. During the tenure of the previous BJP Government, world-class Nava Raipur (Atal Nagar) had been developed, but unfortunately, the new capital is under chaotic condition, which is a blatant example of the ruling Congress Government’s idleness and failure, alleged Munat.

The senior BJP leader, who’s accompanied by BJP Raipur President Srichand Sundrani, State Media In-charge Nalinesh Thokne and Raipur District General Secretary Omkar Bais, said that the Nava Raipur, when newly-constructed had received accolades from across the country and various parts of the world. He said that backwardness and migration are two other trade-marks of the ruling Congress, a legacy which it had carried since its early days. Chhattisgarh which was once known as bimaru and backward state, saw the light of development during the erstwhile BJP regime and gradually it came at par with developed states. Now, it is unfortunate that the Congress is unable to carry out maintenance in Nava Raipur, for which it should be ashamed of. Munat said that Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Housing and Urban Affairs as well as Civil Aviation, will be reaching Chhattisgarh on Sunday.

The BJP will lay a white paper before the Union Minister regarding the prevailing chaotic situation and mismanagement at Nava Raipur and would seek impartial enquiry on misuse of funds allocated under various heads by the centre under Smart City project. He said that the BJP will be putting forth demands for carrying out independent audits of these funds, so that it puts an effective check on blatant misuse of these funds and alleged corruption. Munat said that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had presented a historic Budget for the FY 2021-22, wherein, sufficient allocations had been made for Chhattisgarh as well. Capital Raipur is the city in the country which can boast of two smart cities within a mega city.

Due to funds allocated by the NDA government under Smart City project, beautification of Budhatalab, Devendra Nagar square beautification, Oxyzone and multi-level parking near Collectorate, beautification and upgradation of Kotwali police station, upgradation and beautification of Jawahar Market, installation of Integrated Traffic Management System in the capital, etc could have been possible. Despite claims made by the Congress Government that these development works were carried out by them, the funds for the same came from the Centre only. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the NDA Government under PM Narendra Modi is working with a target of providing housing for all by March 31, 2022. Accordingly, a provision of Rs 27,000 has been made in the Budget. Due to State Government’s failure in implementation of this scheme, it is depriving houses to poor and eligible families.
