CG’s Hindi film 4SUM wins international award

 

 

 

The eighth Darbhanga International Film Festival was held at Darbhanga, Bihar on February 26, 27 and 28. More than 40 films by National and International Filmmakers were screened in the film festival. In this festival, Neeraj Gwal of Bhilai received the title of Best Director and Best Feature Film for his film 4SUM. Apart from Darbhanga’s jury members, the film was well appreciated by the audience. The film was made under the banner of guilty engineers and is based on engineering students. The director of this film Neeraj Gwal is also an engineer who completed his studies from CIT College, Rajnandgaon in 2013.

 

After that he turned to Mumbai to fulfill his dream of becoming a Filmmaker. After acquiring experiences by working with different people and places in Mumbai, he wrote the story himself and planned to make it. Neeraj Gwal is a self taught Artist, and is writer and director of the film. Whereas Abhishek Gwal is the producer of the Film. In 2016, he started writing it and in 2017 the film’s story and screenplay was selected in the National Film Division of India (NFDC) SCRIPT LAB 2017. The entire shooting of the film took place in 2017 in Bhilai, and the places around it. All the actors of the film are from the theaters of Bhilai and Rajnadgaon. The technical team in the film is from Mumbai. This was the first Hindi feature film of Neeraj Gwal, who grew up in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh and also its a debut of all the lead actors of the film. 4SUM is a fictional story built around four friends.

 

In which Yashwant Anand Gupta, Pranav Chandrakar, Saurabh Burade, Arun Kumar Mishra, Neeraj Ukke, Pankhuri Srivastava and Ajit Rahane played the lead roles. Along with this, senior actors of Chhattisgarh cinema and theater Anil Sharma, Vandana Bhagat, Subrat Sharma and Kaushal Kumar Upadhyay have also left a deep impression of their performances in this film. Also Jairam Bhagwani, K K Singh, Suraj Kumar, Shamim Alam, Dev Kumar, Surabhi Srivastava, Janhvi Acharya, Ayushi Pillai, Manish Gupta, Mahira Khan will also be seen in different roles. In 2018, 4SUM was selected at the Dharmshala PJLF editing workshop where noted editors Jacques Comets, Olivia Stewart and Bina Paul monitored the film’s editing process. After this the film got selected in many international film festivals namely Top Indie Film Awards Tokyo 2019, Asian Film Festival Los Angeles, Hollywood 2020, International Moving Film Festival Iran 2020, India International Film Festival 2020, Entolia International Film Festival 2020, Darbhanga International Film Festival 2021, 13th International Guwahati Film Festival 2021 and its still running at various film festivals.

 

This is one of the most prestigious film festival of Asia that takes place in Tokyo, Japan. When the 4SUM got selected there, the final cut of the film was not made, the film was a work in progress, yet the Tokyo jury praised the film and its director Neeraj Gwal and honoured him with the title of Best Director. Yashwant Anand Gupta playing Raj’s role, got nominated in the Best Actor category, along with the film, being nominated for Best Feature Film and Best Writing. 4SUM is taking forward not only our state but also the name of the country in world cinema, congratulations to the entire team of 4SUM for that.
