To ensure that they meant business, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) officials cracked down on violation of home isolation guidelines and 17 persons found so were sent to institutional quarantine. The flying squad of Dharampeth Zone noticed that nearly 17 persons were not found at the mentioned address. As per guidelines aimed at preventing spread of COVID-19, people though asymptomatic but yet found positive for virus were advised home isolation at their request. NMC has provided a list of Do’s and Don’ts to stem transmission of COVID-19 in society. Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishnan B had already issued a civic notification warning of fine of Rs 5,000 and 10-days institutional quarantine if anyone is found violating home quarantine period.

With citizens giving scant regard to directives, NMC stepped-up vigil and flying squads are checking upon citizens at their mentioned address to ensure compliance with home isolation directives. The 17 persons who were not present in home were tracked down and thereafter sent to designated Covid Care Centre (CCC) in the Zone for non-compliance with the Covid rules. Also, a patient was sent to a institutional quarantine centre in Lakdaganj zone.

In the Ashi Nagar zone also, two corona patients were sent to the isolation centre at Panchpaoli. In other zones as well, flying squad checked upon patients and counselled them on taking proper care during the isolation period at home. NMC move to ensure implementation of home isolation rules stemmed from rising cases of COVID-19 in city. A study by civic officials revealed that one of the reason for steep rise could be asymptomatic people roaming freely and mixing in society. Hence, the order for steep fine was issued.
