Demanding online exam, large number of girl students from Government Geetanjali College staged protest on Tuesday. Students said that a professor has been tested COVID-19 positive after which they are scared of visiting the campus. There were around 100 students from UG and PG programme raising slogan against management. They kept on sitting at main gate of college for two hours and displayed board for the demand.

However, two days back, Government had announced to close all school and colleges by March 30 amid the pandemic. But exams will be held as per schedule. Students said their exams are scheduled to be held via offline mode. Currently, practical exam is being conducted. They said many students are also testing COVID positive so it would be risky for them to appear in exam hall for writing exam. They demand to conduct open book exam or online mode. Students alleged that during practical exam, no one is following safety protocols inside the college campus. However college management refused the allegation of students and said they have made all arrangement of safety protocols and students are being called in slots.

Dr Alka David, Principal of the college said, “We are following guidelines of Government and Higher Education Department. Exams will begin on April 9 in two different shifts. COVID protocols have been made mandatory for all.” She further said demand of students has been forwarded to the higher authorities for further decision. She said college management cannot take decision in this regards. Last week, students of prestigious Nutan College demonstrated for online exam. Students said their exam is scheduled for offline mode but their parents are not allowing them to visit college for writing exam. Students demanded to conduct the exam via online mode or take open book exam.
