PI Chaudhary to be questioned by Lakadganj police
Senior Police Inspector Vinod Chaudhary has been booked by Lakadganj police on extortion charges. The offence was registered on the basis of order issued by JMFC Court under Section 156 (3) of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). Along with PI Chaudhary, the police have also booked Mohd Ashfaque Ali, a resident of Plot No. 3/8, Majjidana Colony, Gittikhadan, on the basis of complaint filed by Raja Jamshed Shariff, a resident of Anant Nagar, Gittikhadan. According to police, the alleged incident took place in March 2020 when PI Chaudhary was working as in-charge of Unit No. 3 of Crime Branch.
Complainant Shariff is a money-lender and he had given Rs 10 lakh in various installments to Mohd Ashfaque in year 2019 for construction of his house. When Shariff asked for money, Ashfaque approached PI Chaudhary and lodged a complaint against Shariff. PI Chaudhary had then allegedly called Shariff in Crime Branch office on March 11, 2020 and beaten him up. PI Chaudhary allegedly attempted to snatch his gold chain and also demanded money. Shariff then approached senior police officers. However, no action was taken against him.
Shariff then approached the court. After hearing plea of the complainant, the JMFC Court have ordered Lakadganj police to register an offence against PI Chaudhary and Ashfaque. An offence under Sections 324, 506, 294, 384, 511 and 34 of Indian Penal Code was registered by Lakadganj police. Senior PI of Lakadganj police station Parag Pote told ‘The Hitavada’ that PI Chaudhary would be called for the investigation after serving a notice to him.
