The online examinations to be conducted by Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) will begin on March 24. It will be conducted in three phases with inclusion of all odd semesters. While practical examinations will be conducted between March 8 and March 20, the written examinations will be held from March 24 to April 24. Board of Examinations and Assessment in its meeting held on Wednesday has taken the above decision. All examinations will be of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) type but students have to solve all the questions. In last examinations, students had choices as they could choose 25 out of 50 questions. While elaborating the examination schedule Vice-Chancellor Dr Subhash Chaudhary told ‘The Hitavada’, “With the admissions of all the professional courses ending late and their sessions beginning late, the first semester examinations would be held in last phase that is between April 16 and April 24.” In first phase that will begin on March 24, the examinations of last but one semesters will be held.

For example the last but one semester of three year course (Six semesters) is fifth semester, of four year course (eight semesters) is seventh semester, of two years course (Post Graduation) (four semesters) is third semester etc all the students of these semesters will face the examinations in this phase. This phase will conclude on April 5. The second phase will begin on April 6 and will conclude on April 15. In this phase the examinations of 3rd of six semesters course, 5th of eight semesters course, 7th of 10 semesters course will be held. In final phase to be held between April 16 and April 24 all first semester examinations will be conducted.

Earlier, it was thought that the responsibility of some examinations was to be bestowed upon the colleges. But Dr Chaudhary has made it clear that all the examinations will be handled by university. Each paper will have 40 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) and all will be compulsory. There will be no descriptive type questions. Last year students were given the option of 50% as they could solve 25 questions out of 50 questions. The facility of choice is not given this time. Dr Chaudhary said, “We have taken this decision so that students should not lose their academic year. We will begin all examinations of even semesters in the month of May and those examinations too will be conducted in the same manner as we are holding the examinations of odd semesters.”
