As many as twenty-five staff members and sanitary workers from Bhilai Municipal Corporation underwent for COVID-19 test and their swab samples were collected by district health teams at the premises of Govt LBS Hospital in Supela, Bhilai. Officials from BMC authority have said that there are several micro containment zones in the city which has some small and big veggie markets and such crowded places can potentially emerge as clusters if all precautions are not followed.
 
To prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in city and also to trace suspected COVID carriers, the civic authority has been conducted campaign for COVID-19 test and collected swab samples of some of the retailers, vendors, sanitary workers and other BMC staffers. While elaborating upon the rapid antigen test, the BMC officials have said that it takes two-three days to get the swab reports. But rapid tests through antigen kits help us know within 20-25 minutes whether the suspects or high-risk contacts of the patients are positive. Earlier, over hundred traders and venders were also underwent routine medical checkup and COVID test and their swab samples were collected. Besides, the BMC authority has been deployed mobile testing team, comprising of doctors, lab technicians and assistants and paramedical personnel to conduct the tests and swab collection facility also included in the said mobile testing booths.
 
Public Relation Officer, PC Sarva has said that along with BMC staff and sanitary workers, the focus is concentrated on the places where fruits, vegetables, grains, milk, and other essentials are being sold and delivered to the city residents to conduct campaign for COVID-19 test. He added that the BMC authority has been conducting random tests at markets and other busy areas of the city to ensure the situation does not get out of control.
