Cannabis worth Rs 3.47 lakh seized by Raipur Railway Protection Force (RPF) Divisional task force from Puri-Ajmer Special train, one arrested. As per information received from official sources acting on a tip-off, as per directives of Harish Singh Papola, Divisional Security Commissioner of Raipur Division, Raipur Divisional Task Force of RPF conducted search in coach number S-7 berth number 65, of Train number 02037 Puri-Ajmer Special Express at Durg railway station on Saturday.
 
A youth aged 21 years was found travelling with five back packs kept under his berth. The accused was identified as Siddhant Mahakund, a resident of Harina Singipur under limits of Patpur police station in Ganjam District of Odisha. As the train was about to leave the accused was taken to RPF post Durg and 65 plastic packets were seized from his possession. All the packets were seized in presence Nirmal Toppo, Asistant Security Commisioner and Sub Inspector of RPF T Senapati. Net weight of the Cannabis seized was 69.394 kilograms worth Rs 3,47,000. The accused informed that the Cannabis was being smuggled from Bhubneswar to Ahmedabad for sale.
 
Team was comprised of Head Constable H S Solanki, P K Meshram, Sub Inspector K B Gupta, Head Constable M K Chaubey, S K Mishra of RPF post Durg and witness Chandan Sonkar, Rakesh Sonkar and others. The accused was handed over to Durg Government Railway Police after recording statement of accused, spot Panchnama, and other necessary formalities for further action. Under Section 20 NDPS Act accused was arrested and produced before court. Later he was sent to jail.
