A dynamic young orator and a motivational speaker par excellence, Dr Sumant Datta Tekade succumbed to COVID-19 in the wee hours of Saturday. The untimely demise of Dr Tekade, who was a highly sought after speaker on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, left many shell-shocked. Dr Sumant Tekade was son of Datta Tekade, retired teacher of Navyug Vidyalaya and former office-bearer of Dharampeth Shikshan Sanstha. He was only 38 years old. He leaves behind his wife Madhavi, two children, mother, and a large extended family of relatives, friends, and admirers. When the news of his passing away during treatment at a private hospital in city broke, most people could not believe it to be true.
However, when it got confirmed that he had breathed his last, the entire city was in a state of deep grief and shock. Dr Sumant Tekade had done post-graduation in Management from Bengaluru. He joined Wipro in Human Resource Department. However, he later left the job and served as full-time Pracharak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. After that, he earned PhD in Management and worked as Head of the Department of Human Resources at S B Jain College of Management. Being deeply interested in motivating youth, he left the job and started delivering lectures on life and personality of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and lessons in management.
With his unique oratorial style and study, Dr Sumant Tekade became immensely popular speaker. He was widely popular among youths. He was a much sought after speaker and had delivered lectures in various parts of not only Maharashtra but also the country. He had a good command over Marathi, Hindi, and English. He got guidance from his grandfather and veteran scholar M G Vaidya, and ‘Shivkathakar’ Vijayrao Deshmukh. He was a TEDx speaker. Videos of several of his lectures are widely popular on social media. Recently, he was preparing for publication of his book and collection of his articles. Unfortunately, he succumbed to COVID-19 before that.
