SANGEETA Masih and Chhoti Mehra won a gold each in the National Para-Athletics Championship that concluded in Bengaluru the other day. Chhattisgarh players Masih of Durg won gold medal in shot-put, Mehra of Kabirdham won silver in shot-put and gold in discus throw. Ishwari Nishad of Mahasamund won gold in 200m, a bronze in 400m and another bronze in 1500m running events.
Neel Kumar from Pendra-Marwahi won a silver medal in long jump and added another white metal medal in 400m. Rakesh Potam of Pendra-Marwahi won bronze medal in long jump as Chhattisgarh para-athletics team bagged nine medals in all. Once again last like previous year, women bettered men in medals tally. Chhattisgarh Para-Sports Association President Manish Pilliwar and Secretary RC Mishra, Vice-President Prashant Singh Raghuwanshi congratulated the players for their wonderful performances.
