Nagpur district witnesses all-time high recoveries, 7,266 become corona-free

7229 persons test positive for COVID-19; 98 succumb to the virus 
 
Though the COVID-19 recovery was a little better yesterday, it did not reflect in active cases that continued to rise. But today’s all-time high COVID-19 recoveries made all the difference. On Wednesday, for second consecutive day, the district has witnessed rise in number of people becoming corona-free. It has made quite a good impact on the active cases as they witnessed a fall. Today, 7,266 persons became corona-free taking the cumulative recoveries to 2,65,457. The number is slightly higher than the number of new COVID-19 positive cases--7,229. With a much better recovery the number of active cases have witnessed a fall to 71,557. The Nagpur city has crossed the 2 lakh mark of COVID recoveries. Of course the new cases of coronavirus, number of deaths due to coronavirus continued to haunt administration, healthworkers.

Today, 7,229 persons tested positive for coronavirus in the district of these 8 persons are not the resident of the district. Nagpur rural has reported 2,434 new cases and 4,787 came positive for the virus in city. With these, the cumulative positive cases reached 3,43,589. Of these cumulative cases 1,158 are not the residents of Nagpur district. The COVID death count too can’t be ignored. Today close to 100 persons succumbed to COVID-19. On Wednesday, 98 persons died of this virus, of these 8 persons were not the residents of Nagpur district. Nagpur rural has reported 38 deaths while 52 became the victims to this dreaded virus in city taking the cumulative death count to 6,575. Of the cumulative death count, 976 persons were not the residents of Nagpur district.
 
The testing count in Nagpur district has gone down by over 2,000 to 24,163. Nagpur rural has reported 9,927 testing and city has registered 14,236. With these the cumulative testing count reached 20,65,095. The samples examined through RT PCR were 15,356 while 8,807 were through Rapid Antigen Test. Apart from the samples of Nagpur district, the people from Nagpur and out of city approached various laboratories in Nagpur to get themselves examined. The samples came for examination at various laboratories in Nagpur include virology laboratory of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) (1,824), Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) (1,582), molecular diagnostic laboratory of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) (1,553), National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) (277), Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) (722) private laboratories (9,398), Antigen (8,807).
