Carcass of adult tiger found in Pench

An adult tiger was killed after being strangulated with an accelerator wire in compartment number 378 in Tikadi beat of Ghatkohla buffer area of Pench Tiger Reserve, on Friday.
Field Director of Pench Tiger Reserve Vikram Singh Parihar informed that a forest patrolling team found carcass of an adult tiger in Tikadi beat under Ghatkohla buffer area.
Learning about the incident, he along with Park Superintendent Ashish Kumar Pandey, Veterinarian, Dr Akhilesh Mishra, Circle Officer, Vivek Nag along with other employees reached the spot.
National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), representative S K Johri, Sub-Division Officer, General Forest Kurai also reached the spot. Team of veterinarians performed autopsy on the spot and found an accelerator wire tangled in neck of the carcass.
In prima facie of investigation, it was expected that the tiger was strangulated after being entangled with accelerator wire.
Officers found that hair, nails, tooth etc were safe.
Viscera of tiger was collected for further scientific investigations while the carcass was set ablaze as per standard operation procedure of National Tiger Conservation Authority in presence of its representative. Forest dog squad was deployed for collecting more evidences and identification of persons involved in laying trap for poaching of wildlife at reserved forest area.
