Sadar police have booked Congress corporator and Youth Congress leader Bunty Shelke for threatening government officials of setting them ablaze. Shelke was reportedly angry over exorbitant charges levied by a private hospital for treatment of a Covid-19 patient who died during treatment. A delegation of Congress party, led by Bunty Shelke, with relatives of the patient met the Divisional Commissioner Dr Sanjeev Kumar on Tuesday. The members of the delegation were angry over exorbitant fees charged by the hospital.
Shelke complained to the official about the exorbitant fees levied by the private hospitals situated in Lakadganj area. In sudden outburst, he started creating scene over failure of administration to put a check on the private hospitals in the city. After walking out from the cabin of Divisional Commissioner, Shelke came to the gate of the office where MPCC chief and MLC Nana Patole and MLC Abhijeet Wanjari were present. In a video of the incident which went viral on social media, Shelke was seen reportedly complaining to Patole and Wanjari about administrative officials for their failure to put checks on the private officials.
When Patole asked him to cool down, Shelke reportedly asked Patole to re-transfer ex-Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe in city. He also said that he would set the officials ablaze one day for their failure. Sr Police Inspector Santosh Bakal said that a case under Sections 448, 506 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code was registered against Shelke on Wednesday on the basis of a complaint given by a policeman who was deployed for bandobast at the office.
