CITY’S noted hockey personality Dr Yagya Thakur left for heavenly abode at a very young age on Wednesday. She was 48 years old and leaves behind daughter Sanskriti, son Sanskar, mother, brother and relatives. She was COVID negative. The last rites will be held on Thursday.
A national-level hockey player, Dr Thakur was incharge of conducting RTMNU’s men’s and women’s hockey tournament for the last 4-5 years. She was Secretary of Vidarbha Women’s Hockey Association. Since 2019, she organised many hockey tournaments including State-level championships. Due to her personality and sincere dedication VHA could manage to send its team for Senior Women Hockey Championship at Kollam. Dr Thakur also played several baseball nationals.
