Gualabrao Devrao Patil, former Lokayukta of Maharashtra and retired Judge of the Mumbai High Court, and a resident of Vrundavan Apartment, Civil Lines, passed away on Saturday night. He was 80. He is survived by two lawyer sons, Dhananjay and Makrand and three daughters. He was elder brother of former Member of Parliament, late (MP) Uttamrao Patil, he represented Yavatmal Lok Sabha constituency six times in a row. Their father Devrao Patil was also Member of Parliament (MP) from Yavatmal.
 
The last rites were performed at Ambazari ghat on Sunday. For some time, Justice Patil was also Acting Chief Justice of the Mumbai High Court. During the five-year period from January 27, 2004 to January 26, 2009, he worked as Lokayukta of Maharashtra State during which Justice (Retd) Patil handled various cases.
 
He started practice under Justice C S Dharmadhikari and was appointed as Additional Government Pleader (Addl GP) at Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court in 1978 and elevated to bench in July 1990 and retired in 2003.
